Catching Up

Everything got a little bit hectic since the last time I posted: I had a week off work which I spent clearing out and cleaning my daughter’s room, my daughter went away on her first residential trip, I organised a party and we celebrated Bee’s ELEVENTH birthday when she got home, we frantically attempted to prepare for the 11+ test at the Grammar School, we’ve been to an open evening at another school… and all though that, apart from my week off, I had to go to work.

In a month, I have done hardly any sewing.

What I did manage though, I am very pleased with!

The Butterfly Garden quilt top is taking form, and do you remember the jelly rolls that arrived in the post? Well, the Cape Ann now exists as a completely different entity while the Good Fortune roll is sitting in my bag of things to take to Mum’s on my next sewing stint.

Cape Ann Quilt

The Cape Ann quilt top still needs backing and binding, which I need to pick up the supplies for. This won’t be done today, much to my disappointment, because for the third day running, I have sickly children at home.

The little one has been a very good likeness to the Human Torch and the big one is in bed feeling “sicky” and with a bad throat. The joys of motherhood!

My daughter’s school is going to hold a ‘Christmas Shopping & Pamper Evening’ towards the end of November and have invited parents to rent stalls… and Mum’s persuaded me to rent one! Oh my! But I have no wares!

I’m in a bit of a panic about it, if I’m perfectly honest. I love sewing and have a couple of baby quilts on order already. One is nearly done, and the other is still in the design process. I just don’t feel very confident when it comes to things like this, so this will be a huge challenge for me with an enormous fear to overcome.

Yesterday I took my sewing machine and a whole load of supplies over to Mum’s in an attempt to get started. I could really do with writing a list of what I’m going to make so that I have more of an idea of what I’m doing.

I started the patchwork for four cushion covers and almost got a little zip purse done. I wanted to keep going but I had to come home for dinner. Once the kiddies were in bed, I pulled out more things and began the preparation for some bags. I have run out of Vilene now so that’s another addition to the supplies shopping list!

More on this adventure to come!

As I am stuck indoors once again, I’m going to try to use some of the time to draw and cut pieces!
